Can you believe we are almost into July already? Where has this year gone? I have had a lot of time to reflect the past couple of weeks and I can’t believe where my husband and I were a year ago to where we are now. Doesn’t it feel like that every year? Every year the time goes faster and faster, and more and more things happen. At least it feels like that. I hope the rest of your year is filled with wonderful memories, countless blessings, and time with family & friends.
I guess I’m thinking about that a lot because this week is 4th of July. Every year my parents have a huge 4th of July party. I have never missed it and look forward to it right after Memorial Day when you know the next day off is the 4th. Usually we take a few days off and head up there early. My siblings start to arrive within a day or two of each other. I have 4 other siblings (Michelle, Ryan, Renae and Jennifer) and they all have significant others, so its never a quiet weekend – but its not meant to be. Nothing about our family is quiet. We love each other, we love to laugh, we love to talk, and we always have a good time together. When we first get to my parents we claim our sleeping arrangements (its getting tighter and tighter) and immediately change into our swimming suits to go lay down by the water, start water skiing, tubing, grilling out and singing by the campfire. It is my favorite time of year.
This year we won’t be up there. It has been hard for me to grasp, but I know there are more important things for us to be focusing on right now. My husband keeps saying, “one year, hon, one year…” and I know when I see our baby it won’t matter. The hardest part for me is knowing that this is usually the one time of year I see my entire family at one time. Holidays are tough, and never a guarantee, but the 4th always is. Here is the sequence of events: My fam will head to Nashwauk on the 3rd for the Nashwauk Street Dance – my sisters will dance, Jen & Ryan will visit with old friends…its a big highschool reunion. Then the day of the 4th everyone will get up and start getting ready for the day. My dad will go into town with Michelle to get alcohol and other party supplies. Mom will start working in the kitchen getting pasta salads and desserts ready to go. Ryan will start to blow up floating devices for people, help Clint & David set up chairs and the washoe boards. Noah will help the boys get the washoe tournament together with my Dad. Renae & Jen will play with Anna and help Mom around the house. I can picture the day perfectly in my head. My parents closest friends will arrive first – followed by our close family members – and people will be stopping by through out the day on their boats because they know of the annual ‘Perreault Party’ that has been happening since I was about 2-years-old. It truly is such a special time of year.
I have asked my family to call us every once in a while and check in. Hopefully I get the okay from the doctor to at least watch the fireworks here. I hear Stillwater has some beautiful ones and we will probably end up going with my mother and father-in-law (who also always make the trip up to my parent’s this time of year). It will be beautiful no matter what! Its always a fun holiday weekend!
Okay…baby update…I went this morning and found out that things are progressing. My fluid wasn’t up much, still pretty low (almost a 7.0) but I was dilated a little over a centimeter. Yea! So at least things are slowly starting to happen. My doctor did say she won’t let me go longer than 2 weeks without having this baby…so that was good to hear! I will go in 2-3 times a week to get everything checked. I have another ultra-sound Wed. for fluid levels, and then a biophysical profile of the baby to do a more detailed ultrasound and to make sure the baby is getting enough oxygen and everything is working properly. So keep your prayers coming for that test! The doctor didn’t seem concerned, which is reassuring, more just to be thorough. I am just so glad to see that things are moving and that our little one is still healthy. More to come! If anything happens this week, I’ll be sure to get something posted…even if just a sentence!
Thanks again for checking in, for your comments and prayers…they mean so much to us.

I can only imagine how hard it will be for you to not be doing your regular rituial for the 4th – but I guarantee it won’t be the same for them either to not have you guys there!
Regardless – have a good one. You, Brian and baby continue to be in my daily thoughts!
Take care and happy 4th!!
